How joinery.io reviews
software and machinery

Our assessment framework, evidence standards and editorial independence policy β€” so you know exactly what our reviews are based on.

The short version: All assessments are editorial judgements based on public documentation, vendor information and practitioner knowledge. We do not accept payment to influence review content. Ratings will be introduced when we have a statistically meaningful AU workshop dataset β€” until then we use qualitative descriptors.

Software review framework

Every software package is assessed across eight dimensions. We use qualitative descriptors (Very strong / Strong / Moderate / Limited) rather than numeric scores until we have verified workshop data to anchor them.

Design capability
Quality and flexibility of 3D design and drawing tools, presentation output and model fidelity.
Estimating & quoting
Parametric pricing, speed of quoting from a design and material/labour cost accuracy.
CNC integration
Post-processor coverage for AU-common machine brands, output reliability and maintenance.
Manufacturing / production
Nesting, optimisation, cut lists, shop floor output and production tracking.
ERP / business integration
Accounting system integration, job management and third-party connectivity.
Implementation complexity
Realistic setup timeline, configuration requirements and training investment.
AU support ecosystem
Local resellers, AEST timezone support coverage and technical service capability.
Total cost of ownership
Full 3-year cost including base licence, modules, training, support and migration.

Machinery review framework

Machinery assessments focus on the factors that determine real cost of ownership, not just headline specifications.

Workshop fit
Production volume, throughput requirements and what class of machine is actually needed.
AU service coverage
Nearest technician distance, realistic response time and cost of downtime at your throughput.
Software compatibility
Post-processor availability for cabinet software common in AU, and update reliability.
Running cost reality
Tooling, energy, compressed air, dust extraction and operator time at real utilisation.
Facility requirements
Floor space, 3-phase power, compressed air capacity, slab loading and dust extraction sizing.
Investment & payback
Delivered, installed and commissioned cost including training β€” not just machine price.

Evidence standards

Every page on joinery.io falls into one of four evidence categories. These are not always labelled explicitly, but this is the framework we apply.

Content type Examples How we present it
Official / regulated fact SG rate, Fair Work Award rates, GST, licensing Source and effective date cited. Linked to primary authority.
Joinery.io benchmark data AU workshop margins, shop rates, software adoption Sample size, collection period and methodology stated. Only published once 100+ verified submissions reached.
Industry estimate Indicative charge-out rates, kitchen pricing ranges Clearly labelled indicative range. Source basis explained. Not presented as proprietary data.
Editorial assessment Software comparisons, machinery recommendations, buying guides Clearly presented as joinery.io editorial view, not survey result. Framework and dimensions disclosed.

Editorial independence

Commercial relationships never determine rankings or editorial conclusions. A vendor paying for a partner placement does not receive editorial influence over their review, comparison position or category assessment.

Sponsored or partner content is explicitly labelled. Editorial content is never labelled as sponsored. These categories do not mix.

If you are a vendor and believe an assessment contains a factual error, contact us at hello@joinery.io. We take factual corrections seriously and will update content when presented with credible evidence.
