Kitchen & Joinery Pricing Guide β€” New Zealand 2025

What NZ workshops charge for kitchens, wardrobes, vanities and custom cabinetwork β€” NZD market benchmarks.

NZ market pricing overview

New Zealand kitchen and joinery pricing has risen materially over 2022–2025 in response to labour shortages and material cost inflation. Supply chain improvements have eased material pricing from peak levels, but labour costs remain elevated.

Indicative 2025 NZ market rates

These are market benchmarks only β€” actual pricing depends heavily on specification, location, and workshop overhead structure.

Supply-only kitchen (standard spec, MDF wrap doors, laminate benchtop): NZ$1,400–2,000/LM. Supply and install (standard spec): NZ$1,800–2,800/LM. Custom/designer kitchen (solid timber, stone benchtop, premium hardware): NZ$3,200–6,000+/LM. Wardrobe/robe system: NZ$900–1,600/LM. Vanity (standard): NZ$700–1,400/unit supply and install.

Auckland vs regional pricing

Auckland workshops typically command a 15–25% premium over equivalent work in Wellington or Christchurch, driven by higher overhead costs β€” rent, labour, compliance. For regional workshops, competitive pricing needs to account for freight on materials that can be substantial for larger projects.

GST treatment on quotes

NZ GST is 15%. Quoting practice follows similar conventions to Australia β€” ex-GST quotes to builders (GST-registered), inclusive to residential end clients. The joinery.io estimating tool includes a 15% NZD GST option.
